My husband has given me the task of choosing between Hawaii or Vegas. He won't tell me why, just that he wants me to do the research and decide which one I'd rather go to. Hoping for opinions for someone who's been to both?

Wow! What a hubby!

Having been to both numerous times, here's my take on the situation.

The first thing to consider is what time of year it is. Right now Las Vegas is blistering hot, so if you like to go in the pool, lay out in the sun, etc., then Vegas is a good choice. Also a good choice if you want gambling, high-end shopping, fine dining, shows and entertainment. There are lots of great deals for hotels in Vegas, and you can find everything from a nice Hampton Inn to the 5 star Bellagio. You can generally also find reasonable airfare to Vegas from most US cities. So if you are looking for some adult entertainment and action and have a nice load of cash to drop, Vegas would be the front runner. The fall is also nice, but as we move into winter you lose the pool and sunning option. Just another thing to consider

That being said, if money is no object, I would choose Hawaii. Hawaii has a wonderful combination of elements that I haven't found anyplace else in my travels. It is definitely the place to go if you want to have a nice variety of things to do and see and still have some together time with your man. My recommendation would be this: fly into Oahu/Honolulu and spend 2 or 3 days there. I particularly like the Wakiki Parc Hotel. It is a lovely hotel and has some great packages. Lots of people say don't get a car in Honolulu, but I say get one! You can walk around Waikiki quite a bit, but you'll want a car to drive around the island and check it out. You can go to the Dole Pineapple plantation, the Polynesian Cultural Center, the USS Arizona memorial and the famous North Shore. And make sure to eat at Duke's! The cashew chicken on the bar menu is amazing!

Then travel over to Kauai for some serious relaxation. There is great snorkling, swimming, surfing, and the amazing Waimea Canyon, the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. And if you are lucky you will catch a clear day at the end and be able to see Bali Hai! We love staying at Kuhio Shores which is in sunny Poipu. We have stayed on the east coast, but Poipu really lives up to its name and we prefer sun to the rainforest conditions on the North Shore. The condo was perfect for our family of 3 and I loved listening to the ocean at night. Plenty of high-end restaurants, but also nice to fix dinner on the grill some nights.

I love Vegas and Hawaii, but if my husband gave me carte blanche we'd be on our way to Hawaii in a hearbeat!

Aloha! Enjoy your vacation wherever you go!

I have been to both and prefer Hawaii, but I don't gamble and I like vacations where I feel like I can just sit around and do nothing or wander around seeing the sights, as opposed to having a schedule where I absolutely MUST see this and do that. I found Vegas to be very crowded and dirty, but Hawaii was beautiful and laid-back. If you decide on Hawaii, however, I would advise you AGAINST the island of Oahu, which is where Honolulu is -- the people were not friendly and it wasn't the island paradise you would envision. We stayed for a week on Kauai and LOVED IT!!! Much less crowded, friendly people, all kinds of natural beauty to enjoy, plenty of excursions, and just a great time all-around. I would definitely recommend Kauai or Maui if you're going to Hawaii if you want to have that island paradise atmosphere.

Las Vegas is the most exciting and amusing town on the planet and with hotelbye you will find out more. Nowhere else on earth you will find a city that has all the vacation amenities that just a complete resort location could possibly offer: lavish casino accommodations, fine dining, amazing stay amusement and state-of-the art tradition and trade show facilities. Las Vegas happens to be a magnificent town and anything that you would expect from a world-class town, and more, is the following for the journey pleasure. Among the places you should visit in Las Vegas is the Fremont Street, a pedestrian region with all kinds of unique sites.

I think for couples to hang out and relax Hawaii is definitely better. Maui or some other island other than Oahu. Oahu is too commercial and busy. Maui you can just relax at the beach and enjoy the warm ocean water.

Vegas is so busy with shows and gambling but if you enjoy eating at some top notch restaurants then Vegas is your place.

So the answer to your question is... depends on what you want to do.

Hawaii hands down!!! If I die I pray heavean is like the islands....... Gorgeous, simply beautifuuuuul... Tropical, balmy, wonderful sunsets, sunrise's like you have never seen... My question to you would be what time frame do you have? Vegas I look at as more of a weekend kind of trip... Hawaii is more of a week long trip..Very Romantic!!
Vegas is a 24/7 kind of place, something to do at all times.
Gambling, shows, eating... Hawaii is very laided back place, and yes there is alot to do on any of the islands.
But you tend to do it more together!!! Good Luck on your Choice..........

Hawaii is much more relaxing and it feels like more of a real holiday....Vegas is fun and lots of activities, but you can lose your shirt if you gamble...You will make better freinds in Hawaii....the weather is absolutely perfect.

If you are the jealous type, Vegas has more women plying their trade to attract men....you might not like that compared with Hawaii.
