Because they can take credit for conservative actions and claim them as they own and disown there own actions.
Take our supply side energy crisis the Dem's created that by stopping all new production facilities and certain raw materials from being used and also nuclear power. Then after their 8 year tie-raid they blame Bush for increased oil prices.

To answer your question. Everyone seems to rewrite history whether thru their liking or misconception. Republicans are just as guilty as democrats in trying to get people to believe their spin on things. A better question would be why do politician try to rewrite history.

Rewriting history is the only way they can look good.
