Certainly you can, but it might take some moving of the engine mounts. If they're the same size engine you might be all good.

Though, before you do any work, you'll need to check with your state on the emissions for it. a lot of states won't let you install an older engine into a newer car, but will let you install the same or newer year engine in the car. the logic here is that newer means better tech and less emissions. Stupid huh? that's the DMV for ya. you could probably getaway with it, but if you ever sold the car you might end up with trouble.

As for the actual swap, apples to apples is best, but if you're changing bigger things like fuel injection from a carburated car you'll have a lot more work to do, and lastly ALWAYS if possible get the original harness and computer from the donor car

You might also talk to the dealer to find out what differences there were between those years in the engine. a factory service manual (from the dealer not chilton's) can help you out a lot too.

ok you didnt say what engine size 4 or 6 2.2 / 3.1or 2.8
but anyway it will work from year to you just put both engine beside each other check to make sure that the sensors are the same change out motor mounts and probly the ac braket
done this many times without problems and make sure that the trans are both are the same only problem i have with this is that the plug for the lockout converter may not be the same but you dont need that plugged up anyway cause they are bad for messing up. So have fun

89 and 92 do not use the same engine, they are similar but different, you will have nothing but problems.

I don't see why not. Remember a rear wheel drive engine will not work in a front wheel drive vehicle. Call a junkyard, and they have an exchange book that can answer your question. Good luck!
