ISI funds, trains and aids "AlQaeda". ISI, by it's own disclosure is an arm of the CIA. So, does it all come down to the fact that the AlQaeda is a creation of the CIA?? Think or research before you answer.

The world's a tough neighborhood. The US has had many awful allies to help us fight even worse enemies.

I guess the worst was Stalin - a mega-genocidal leader who was our ally in WWII.

I believe the US supported the Mujadeen (sp?) against the Soviets in Afghanistan, and Saddam against Iran. Both later were our enemies.

Interesting, how some say Osama would never work with Saddam because Saddam was too secular. But they also say Osama had already worked with the US.

Scary stuff.

60 Minutes had a story which discussed how a former CIA operative helped fund the mujahadein which drove the USSR out of Afghanistan. Osama bin Laden was the US link between the CIA and the mujahadein. After the cold war ended, bin Laden became public enemy #1 when the first attack on the World Trade Center occurred in 1993.

The mujahadein (latter, the Taliban) still loved the US and hated the USSR. The Taliban even shut down heroin production for a year as a sign of good faith. Sadly, US decided to call in its chips and told the Taliban we will give you a carpet of gold or a carpet of bombs if a pipeline isn't built through your country.

Because that is the favorite culprit of all conspiracy theorists. You really need to look for better sources of info or you will end up a recluse in a bomb shelter under ground with a HAM radio for your only access to the outside world.
