tears, whether you think so or not, that is the case for those of us who have worked for small businesses. It was never an option, and when it was (I switched jobs) I jumped right on it.

JUST tell them your homeless and unemployed give them a common name like john or mary and tell them you do not know your social security number .YOU have been staying at the salvation army shelter and drool on your self a little do not take Id with you and only have some pocket change to call for a ride when you leave .
YOU can get by without your family knowing whats up all the time .Call them from a pay phone to update them .
This is a lot cheaper then any deductable .
SAVES you God only knows how much money in the long run .
Indigent get the same care as anyone else and do not pay anything towards healthcare .Same as illegal aliens who come here.
The system is set up to treat people and the ones who have the most get taken for a ride by insurance and healthcare people .
If you love your family and want them to keep the house and not have a pile of debt hanging over them .RUB some dirt on your face tear a hole in you sleeve and rename yourself jane doe .IF you live i promise they will not track you down and besides there is no law on the books to charge you with .IF you die your family will not be saddled with hundreds of thousands in medical bills .

If it isn't ALREADY a Democratic Party platform it will be by 2008.
Suggestions? It would be nice if the folks plumping for universal health care wouldn't be so disingenuous about what they plan in terms of the effect this will have on ALL Americans.
Their attempt to hide the full effects of Queen Hillary's botched 1993 plan is what sank that plan (notwithstanding the fact that once they got an inkling of what Hillary had in mind for them, Americans didn't WANT it (which is why she had to keep the plan under wraps for as long as possible)); I think Americans will be able to judge any universal healthcare plan on its merits if it's fully-articulated and time is given for the public to consider it. Not another "We need to do it and we need to do it NOW!" attempt - the public won't stand for it again.

The DNC's official platform is to increase the health care of the poor and elderly only.
I know that Sen Dave Durenburger (retired) had a plan to give federal incentives to states for creating their own health plans. Currently I know of one Democrat looking to revitalize this plan.
Minnesota has Minn Care a health plan for people who work but make less than $19,600. Cost is about $70 per month. If they could get federal funding they could include those that make up to $28K.
I trust the state government far more than the federal.

Medical Insurance is a personal responsibility.
Getting a higher education = getting a higher paying job that offers insurance. School is free until 12th grade, where if you did what you were supposed to you can easily get a college scholarship. If someone makes the personal choice to goof off, then there are consequences.
Note the constitution does not guarantee free education nor medical. It was written in a time when people really understood that you reap what you sow.

Insurance is not the responsibility of government. However this will of course be used as a carrot to be dangled in front of the American who is worried about what might happen as opposed to what is happening now. This will appeal to some peoples emotional need to have someone take care of them. I provide for my family and I pay for our health insurance. Could I have other things for the money I spend on my premiums? Sure, but personal responsibility requires discipline.

No because no one wants to appear as socialist. Health care is not free...doctors, nurses, security, the building, machinery....none of it is free and doctors who care don't seem to take pay cuts.
so someone has to pay. if the government does, then the spirit of the entrepreneur is gone and the heathcare system goes down the tubes when the profit motive is removed. That's why other systems don't work...no desire to work hard because everything will be regulated and be the same whether you work or not.
So, if you expect to gov. to insure you, expect a crappy heath cvare system. Ever think of that?
Socialism doesn't work.

The Dems constatly address this issue, proposing more universal/social health care. Unfortunately, the word "social program" has gained a stigma in our country and people automatically think, "Oh no, taxes will have to be raised and I'll be damned if they get my hard earned money." So the programs are voted down by conservative senators/representatives/lobbies. Republicans rarely think or talk about this because the majority of their important constituents are heavily insured and it is a moot issue for them.
