Physiotherapy

As soon as that surgeon gets a knife into you - guess what you heal with? SCAR tissue. Scar tissue is not as strong as muscle or skin or ligament.

Get the physio to give you exercises to build your rotator cuff and your shoulder muscles.

This will build muscle. This is stronger than any scar.

Some people keep having shoulder troubles and need surgery to fix something. But this should be a last resort.

If you had a dislocation and sugery was recommended, I am guessing that an MRI was performed and found to have a tear in the labrum which is a fibrocatrilagenous type of material that helps depen the socket. When this is torn, it can cause pain and leave you at risk for further dislocation.

Often times, physical therapy is indicated if the tear is minor. Treatments might include strength and proprioceptive training to have the muscles substitute for the breech in the labrum. This is often helpful, but the person may be left with some residual pain because the ability of the labrum to "heal" is very poor. Continued aggressive athletics, especially those involving overhead motions may aggrevate the conditon.

I have had several patients avoid sugery with physical therapy; however, those that continued to "sublux" the joint or those who were involved with overhead motions usually wound up having surgery after a trial of PT. A trial of PT usually does not cause any further harm. Bring these concerns to your orthopedist.

Try out the physiotherapy first. If you don't feel an improvement in a month or two, surgery can still be an option. I would reccommend the physiotherapy because as Orinoco_W, surgery brings scar tissue.

Hi i recently got in a semi wreck, What i recomend is going to more then one physician, maybe a notable one. Then see what is best in cost and time to fix the problem. They have a medicine that relaxes muscle spasm that can make some people very tired of quite awake, i'd look into all three.

Go with the PT (Physical Therapist) "cdptgt". The advice is medically sound and I should know.
