I did a lot of research for best value and bought a Samsung as a gift. Works great. More important, if everyone believes me and buys a Samsung, then Samsung will be the coolest and my gift will become that much more valuable. Check it out! Good luck!

I also think that the Creative line of MP3 players is better than the Apple iPod. I constantly hear about them breaking... Creative makes a solid product for a great price.

I recently found a good deal online. I was looking for an MP3 player for the gym, running etc. but it had to have a built in voice recorder.
It sounds great and works well.
I found it here:

the ones that have the most memory- some sound like alot but when you start putting songs on there it can fill up fast-
find one that is easy for you to use, has the memory space you need and then do a comparison online like epinions and see what actual users thought of them- problems- etc,
consumer reports is good but they charge to be a member.
