38 m.m seems very large for a compression fitting, the only one I can think of is plastic tube which is "push-fit" and used fir handbasin wastes. Go to a plumbers merchant.

get a mcalpine fitting that will fit both copper and plastic but if you just want copper you will have to go to a place like BSS if you live in the UK because the size you want maybe metric or imperial for copper for mcalpine go to plumb centre

any good plumbers shop,B&Q or a company called screwfix direct they will yuo a cataloge a have thier own web site, worth a look
