That tape recorder is worthless, and inadmissible in Court, however, you could present it to an independent review panel. If you get caught fumbling with something under your shirt though during a traffic stop, chances are you will be ripped out of the car for suspicion of possession of a firearm. You want to resolve this quick? Contact your local stations Internal Investigations Department, they will help you figure out why you are thought to be a drug user.

You should consult with an attorney, and have the attorney contact the police department and inform them of their error, if it is an error.

The tape recorder may not be a bad idea, but the laws regarding its use vary by state, and it's likely to just annoy any police offier you try to record, so that might not help your overall situation.

people's names don't just pop up, unless your name is something like John Smith.
Carrying a tape recorder wont help. What you need to do is get a lawyer and tell him/her the situation. They will sort out what can and can't be done in your jurisdiction

Either you did something or someone used your name you need to reevaluate the company you keep, and you need witnesses before you can start the paperwork against the police, but until then stay away from trouble and don't drive at night or on unpopulated streets.

Oh yea, like a gun in the glovebox is good advice. Pull that one on a cop, you'll either be shot yourself or slammed right into jail

My advice is to keep a record of each time they harrass you.
