I have listen to heavy metal. I also notice a lot has to do with death and destruction but there are some that seem to be positive as well.

It depends on the band. Stratovarius is an excellent power metal band from Finland with some good positive songs. Nightwish is another good band to check out. Most metal sub-genres are not all that positve. Some metal bands in varius sub-genres have dark lyrics that are actually positive. Theres a lot of "think for yourself" messages in songs, I find that to be positive. Part of the reason metal exists is to give a dark side to music, sometimes with, sometimes without, a light at the end of the tunnel.

Of course its a positive message. You have to look at the social commentary within, and from that you can extrapolate the positive message that something needs to change. It may be all about death and destruction, but really if you think about it, these issues need to be exposed so people will do something about them. However, a little death and destruction do wonders for your testosterone levels. Just enjoy the power and majesty of it all and don't question the message.

Its all bout your own interpretation and what you get out of the song, you know? Its the messege, and thats always different for each individual.
