I have an ethical or moral situation here. I know of someon that is breaking the law. 1. they're driving without a license 2. driving without insurance and 3. is lieing to their grandparentsw about the whole thing. I dont think its right that they are doing this. I would like to turn them in. Am wrong in wnating to do this? What would you do and why?

I was in a car accident last year, and my car was totaled. The driver did not have insurance, and should not have been on the road to wreck my car in the first place. I am now driving a car that is not as nice, because I still owed money on the one that was wrecked. For the sake of all of the other drivers on the road, turn this person in.

You should mind your own business. Or this person can get back at you.

I you want, you can tell this person that he shouldn´t be doing that.
But in the end, I have driven without a license running to go help some person in danger, I have forgotten to pay my insurance on time, that doesn´t make me a bad person, and I have lied to my parents telling them that I am studying business when truth was I´m a fashion merchandising major, but now I help donating clothes world wide to poor people, or people who have suffered disasters.

So you tell me, what is ethical or moral?

If you were a real friend, you would tell the grandparents, do it anonymously if you must via a phone call from a payphone or type a letter to them. If your friend would by chance get caught, it will be very rough on him/her. If you hang out with him or her, then your reputation will also be ruined and in turn you will be watched for by law enforcement.

It is certainly not unethical or immoral to do either, however it is illegal for the other person.

go to the person 1st and give them a chance to come clean with the knowledge that if they don't you are informing their grandparents 1st and then police if needed. No you are not wrong in wanting to do this. I would do what I just wrote and the reasons would be because the grandparents will suffer for this persons folly

Um, I don't think it would be wise for you to be the one to inform his grandparents. You would probably loose a friend and cause a lot of grief. Call the police dept. and tell them what the deal is and that you are concerned. They will advise you of what to do to best help the situation. God bless!

They should not be on the road - an anonymous call to the local police might be in order.

I think you should tell their grandparents, not "turn them in". It is the insurance issue that bothers me.
