Just spent a week at the seaside, sitting, standing, walking in the surf by morning, noon and night - and you're absolutely right of course. The sound of surf is magical, takes the day-to-day of human life and strips it neolithic-bare. The sounds fo the sea and the land as they mate, the give and take, the crash and shuffle, the applause and fireworks of the sea through stones, the rushing of the smaller waves, the gurgle of the backwash as it swallows them up in its embrace like babies in a grandpa's arms...
The sounds of the sea are the sounds of life, of ancient, endless, elemental life. I came away from them today, and already ache to fill my ears with them again.

I fly fish and camp along side where I fish. There is a river in Oregon called the Metolius River that comes gurgling out of the ground with 10,000 feet tall Mt, Jefferson framed in the background. The river is clear and cold(46 degrees). I love the sound of the rushing waters as I fall asleep. The sound of the surf would be my second choice. Both are soothing to the soul.

A child's belly laugh. There is nothing sweeter or more gleeful...except for maybe when they do it at the beach and the surf is crashing on to the shore.

I love the sound of the ocean on the shore. Moved away from the ocean years and years ago, never got over missing it.

right now my favorite sound is the laughter of my granddaughter, when she sees me and hollers out, "Nana!!" at the top of her lungs, then laughs.

The ROAR of a lion at night in Africa. It makes your blood freeze! But you get such a kick out of it! Especially if you know he is just somewhere on the other side of the fence and can probably smell you! And probably see you!

The sound my lover makes when he's about to ejaculate, I know it's not really what you had in mind, but it's what came up first.

I also like the sound of soft raindrops, peaceful slumber, little bells, and the sound of the keyboard.

both silencio or the sound of wind blowing the leaves on timber even as i'm sitting outdoors my cabin with the help of the lake. Even the occasional sound of a jet-ski is welcome. Falling rain, the torrent kind, is my trendy sound contained in the comprehensive international, extraordinary huh?
