the placenta is all around the baby not just on one side...more like a balloon shape... you are probally having ligament pains or the baby has shifted and hit a nerve...the only thing you can do about that is just deal and somtimes taking a warm shower will help

Your placenta should be in the uterus, which should be in the middle, not the sides. If you have pain in one spot on the side, you should go see a doctor. If you are very early in pregnancy, it could be tubal. Unless it's just ligment pain, but you should remember what that is.

i thought the placenta rested against the cervix in most cases... but i thought it really was decided by where the egg implants in the uterus and starts to form the placenta.

It is attached to the uterine wall. It attaches anywhere, but usually attaches on the top third portion. This isn't always the case, which could possibly lead to complications. Only your doctor would know.

There is not set side to my recolection. It's just wherever the placenta attatches itself.

It can be on different sides during different pregnancies, as well as possibly being on the top or bottom.
