My initial recommendation would be to dump AOL. I got rid of it years ago and have never missed it. IMHO, any and every ISP is better than AOL! AOL eats up a lot of your system resources by running in the background (even when you are not logged in). The cost of AOL for what it offers is ludicrous to say the least. If you're using dial up, then most any other ISP will do just fine and it's about 1/3 the cost of AOL. (Sorry but AOL left a pretty rotten taste in my mouth.)

However, if there appears to be conflict between McAfee and AOL you should look at the security settings you have imposed in McAfee. I'm not familiar with McAfee so I can't help you there. Also check your security settings on AOL.

The other place to look is your security settings on your browser (e.g. IE or FireFox). It may be easiest for you to simply opt for the default settings implemented by the browser.

Check the Help section on AOL, McAfee, IE, and/or Firefox, etc. regarding the Security Settings.
