season
nope
thats 130 bases
56 bases now, he's not even half way there and the mets only have like 25 games left so he'd need 74 bases, which he might now get total, and average 3-4 bases every game, and thats not gonna happen with todays catchers and ptchers checking him
career, if he has 50 bases stolen ever year fo the next 18 years
he still won't
i'll say he gets 58 this season, so thats 150 on the career
50 bases fo the next 18 years is 900
900
+150
_________
1150
rick henderson has like 1406 i think
so 1150 is great but still an amazing 300 stolen bases away

I don't think Rickey's record will be jeapordized by anyone in this era, because the stolen base isn't as coveted as it was even 20 years ago.
Managers - or at least GMs - realize now that stealing doesn't really help a team unless you're successful in about 75% of your tries, so that has had an effect on strategy. Teams also rely a lot on the home run, instead of worrying about manufacturing runs, so they dont' send runners as often.
If Reyes played in the '80s, he might be close to 100 a season. In today's game, though, challenging Ricky seems really unlikely.

Hederson averaged 70 steals a season for 20 years, with the high of 130. Reyes never reached 60 yet. He's only in his 3rd year, but with much emphasis on scoring by long ball these days, it is highly unlikely Reyes will ever reach Rickey's steal level.

Henderson at his peak stole 130. He stole more than 80 in a year 5 times.
Reyes will never steal more than 70 in a season. And he wont play for nearly as long as Rickey did.
Also, keep in mind... Henderson was a .290-.300+ hitter... who drew a ton of walks (he's second all-time in walks). Henderson got a TON of chances to steal bases... much more than Reyes will get.

The Steroid Age has made Rickey's record as unbreakable as DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak.
The average major league career is less than 10 years. Someone would have to steal 130 bases a year for 10 years to come close to breaking Rickey's record.

His single season record is safe. Henderson stole 130 bases in 1982. Reyes only has 56. He would have to a lot of stealing to get there.

No, Henderson stole more bases in his first 10 years then reyes will in his career. Managers just dont give players the green light to go like they used too

No. I'm a huge Mets fan, and Reyes is the best base stealer out there, but I dont think anyone will ever come close to even stealing 100 bases again, let alone 130.

I would not think so. I doubt anyone ever breaks the stolen base records Henderson has set. I might be wrong as records are made to be broken but I really doubt that record can be broken as Nolan Ryan's record of 5714 strikeouts will never be broken either!
