I require post office box with any post office in the city of
Chennai. How to go about it?

Go to the post office of the jurisdiction of your street address, you would be required to give proof of your street address for obtaining a post office box. Fill up a form, or a formal request on plain paper. On availability of a box in the said post office, you would be given a box completing formalities like security deposit, annual rent etc.

I would think contact a local post office and ask for info. I never did that before so this is just a suggestion. Good Luck.
