kanye west is not overrated but the others are. most commercial rappers are overrated(not all). you'll find a lot of good hip hop in the underground scene where there actually is a message- not just talkin about how much ice they got or how much b*tches they got. other hip hopers to check out are the Roots, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common. With Kanye- he is the mediator between the commercial and undeground. that whjat makes him a good rapper in my book. These guys have a positive vibe in the rap community.

some of them are. But there are some that trully do have talent. Have you ever listened to Busta Rhymes? Do you think that you could rap as fast as he does?
You can tell the difference between talented and wanna be rappers. 50 cent is a wanna be in my opinion. Played out. Eminem is trully talented. Any white boy who can stay in the rap industry for as long as he has and still crank out the hits is talented.

The ones who can freestyle off the top of their heads are
not over-rated that's true talent. Not many people can do that.
But yes some rappers are over-rated.
