I am going to guess that you are not American by your question and use of the word "bloody". You see, what you have wrong is that "us Americans" are not directly responsible for what our military and government do. We do have the right to speak up, and that is why the Abu Gharib scandal is a scandal at all. Do we directly blame you for your country's errors? Are the citizens accountable for the government's actions? Now in a true democracy some of that would hold water, but here in the US we do not have the democracy we try to impose on others. It is just another in the long list of fictitious reasoning we give for our wars. Please don't hate people as a whole.

Abu Ghraib was the exception- a clearly horrific and rare departure from the normal practices of the US military- that's why it made news. When abuses are committed by forces that always do it, those stories don't get reported, because everyone knows and expects it. Human rights abuses in North Korea or Sudan? No surprise to anyone...
It just shows that all Americans aren't saints- but whose prison would you rather spend a year in? In which legal system would you rather have to fight for your life in a trial? The USA, Egypt, Syria, China, Ethiopia, Russia, Mexico, Iran?

You know what, America has not forgotten. The fact is not may people gave a crap about it. Only the media was outraged. If a terrorist humiliated me, I would prefer that to having my head cut off, or a bombing of civilians. Boo-Hoo my feelings got hurt. If there are bad soldiers, the military takes care of that ALL THE TIME.

Americans have very short attention spans.
It is part of what makes them great.
Unlike third world crud holes who hold onto every past slight and every petty difference for generation after generation, allowing hatred to seethe and take them over, Americans roll with the new realties as they develop.
Get over it chum, far worse has been done to far less deserving people.
Killers got humiliated?
Waah.
They got a lot better treatment than captured Westerners get from terrorists.

No they just chop people heads off on camera, dismember them, cut off their genitals and stuff them in their mouth then drag them through the city streets. And they come crying because they have women's underwear on their head, what's their problem? They walk around with diapers on their heads most of the time anyway.
