We have been trying to conceive now for a few months & have been unsuccessful. I really thought this last time we had accomplished it! I was 10 days late then the "witch" arrived! Same as last month, I was a few days late then she popped up. Anyhow here is my question: Is it possible to ovulate a few days right BEFORE your period? Here's my senerio: We had unprotected sex on the 19th, 22nd, 26th, and 27th of August. My period was WAY late. I was due around the 21st and it didn't arrive until the 30th. And I KNOW THIS WAS the REAL DEAL, It was def my period! I am usually a 3-5 day gal so it seemed as if it was over on the 3rd of September. For 2 days I havent seen anymore signs of the period, no bleeding, cramps stopped etc. Then today, Ive wiped several times & there was some pinkish blood. Not ALOT tho. This has NEVER happened to me before. So I am now wondering is it possible that I ovulated a few days before my period and could be pregnant? Eventho I DID just have a period?

Well, I've heard that women can ovulate anytime. However, I was ovulating around day 18 of a 30 day cycle and my OB said that was too late to ovulate and sustain a pregnancy because your luteal phase (the time between ovulation and your next scheduled period) has to be at least 14 days so your uterus has enough time to thicken for the egg to implant. I have a luteal phase defect, so I need to take progesterone to prevent a miscarriage. (I had one miscarriage)

However, I have heard of women having a period and still being pregnant. Last month I had a light period, but some signs of pregnancy, so my OB did a pregnancy test. Therefore, I'm thinking it's more plausible that you had a period, but could be pregnant. The blood you have now could be implantation.

I would go ahead and take a pregnancy test, or have your doctor take a blood test. It's better to find out for sure. If you aren't pregnant, try to find out when you ovulate. You can either chart your daily basil body temperature (check out fertilityfriend.com), or buy and ovulation kit.

Good luck!!

Ovulation determines when your period will happen. Most women ovulate 12-16 days before their period and within individual woman, this rarely deviates by more than a day. Stress or illness can cause you to ovulate late, but that would also cause your period to be late unless you got pregnant when the late ovulation occurred. Many women have period-like bleeding early in their pregnancies, so it's possible that you are pregnant and that you simply misinterpreted the bleeding as your period even though technically it's not.

Iam 22 weeks pregnant with a PERIOD baby. I ovulated on the last couple days of my period.

Go figure.

You can ovulate whenever your body feels like it. Usually its the same day every month, but not always. Women dont cycle like the tide.
