The strongest animal in the world is the rhinoceros beetle. It can lift 850 times its own weight.

As Andrew pointed out, you have to be more specific. An ant can carry many times its own weight, yet it's muscles are much weaker than ours. An African Bull Elephant is probably the strongest animal in that it can pick up the most. A hummingbird probably has the greatest strength of muscles pound for pound. If not a hummingbird than I would think it would be some other bird since their muscular, and respiratory system is so efficient necissitated by the requirements of flight.
