I ususally try to determine that before we start ordering, so there's no awkwardness after the meal. When we go out with our parents, they typically pick up the tab, so we know ahead of time, unless they state otherwise.

The bottom line: ask those going out if this is separate or together, especially if it was their idea to go out.

Depending on who offered to go out to the eatery in the first place. If you did, then you should. If the parents did, they should. If you all decided to pick one particular place, then, it should be split. Meaning, when you order, tell the waiter or waitress that you are going to order seprately.
So, it depends.

I don't like my parents to pay. They provided plenty for me already. Now I can take care of them.

With siblings, it depends who did the inviting. If I planned it then I will pay. Otherwise, I will suggest we split the bill. I don't like people paying for me.

Parents, but my siblings never do. Once in awhile I will though. It also depends on who asked who.
