Play the perfect hostess!

You can cook the food, make sure everyone constantly has a drink, they are comfortable, keep things moving and they'll respect you for it.

That way your not sat with someone searching for something to say, keep busy and you'll find everyone starting to talk to you.

There will be a point where someone will tell you come and sit down stop fussing, etc and there you are with an invite to the conversation, you will be the centre of attention.

You'll probably find most are trying to find something to talk to you about, compliment the women on clothes/shoes/bag/hair style they have and your in there.

For the men? Just flash some cleavage, that keep them chatting to you!

this is a nitemare...i bet you dont wanna go, just remember that your the hosts girlfriend and that makes you an important part of this bbq so keep a big smile on your face and socialise by keeping glasses topped up and busying your self making sure everyones got what they need....if anyone really cheeses you off then accidentley splodge a big dollop of ketchup on there top xx

Introduce things into the atmosphere that spark conversations, interesting glassware, barware if alcohol is involved, decorations, games etc. Here is a fun site with games, glasses, etc that is totally focused on entertaining guests: http://www.homewetbar.com/fun-games-c-52.html That will give you something to talk about.

birds of a feather flock together. why do u get on with your boyf but not his friends? if you resent his mates now you will will only grow more and more resentful of him spending time with them in the future. maybe your sacrifice to the relationship is that you dont enjoy t bbq 2nite, but dont make a big issue of it- so long as your bloke has a good time, and in t future you'll make friends as a couple, so just bide your time. :)

Well just stick close to your man and try to involve yourself in the party as much as you can. He really was a little inconsiderate in planning this. He should have made sure that you were comfortable with the people invited OR just have made it a few friends of his and you have a girls night out.

Ask them what they're doing this weekend or if they've been to any good restaurants lately. Something that you're genuinely interested in and focus your attention on that person. Hopefully they'll be flattered and a little nicer to you. Let us know how it goes.

I would try to be helpful and look busy, maybe help with the cooking of the food or something, be polite but pretend that you are too busy to have a full on conversation with them.

just be yourself and enjoy it, maybe you should start a conversation off, you are on your boyfriend's territory , they are coming to you be confident and i am sure you will get on ok, if you stand there not saying anything, maybe they think you are unapproachable and that's why they dont talk to you good luck

Just don't go. I'm the same way and I only deal with it one of two ways. Go and get plastered or stay at home. Good luck
