You need to spend some time in the woods before hunting season and look at the signs, where are they at.
The secret is patience and stealth, don't make a sound and don't make any sudden moves. Use a scent concealer, allot of deer are shot between 11 and 1 while some hunters are leaving the woods for lunch. Plan on spending the whole day in the woods but I believe the best advise is to stay quiet and still.
Good luck

Get by the deer's keen senses of
1) smell
2) hearing
3) sight
In that order or importance!
Smell - hunt facing the wind or up in a tree stand or the buck will no you're there long before you do. Don't smoke, don't pee beside your stand and avoid smelly things in diet like garlic, onions, beans, sausage, but eat things like parsley, chlorophyll, leafy green veggies. Wash clothes in a scent blocker.
Sound - sit still, don't talk or cough, leave cell phone at home, don't use noisy tree stands.
Sight - Consider leafy camo, hunt from above the ground, don't move or be fidgety.

There are many tricks, time of day, time of year, smell before you go out, things that nature. I shot my first at around age 11. Been hunting ever since. You just have to pick your spots wisely. The wind is never your friend.

Going out early to spot them is one sure way of knowing where they graze. Also, wear a rag sprayed with skunk scent. Deer have excellent sniffers, and the slightest hint of human odor spooks them away. Also, during the hunting season, buck will usually send does out in the grazing areas first. And when it all appears good, the buck will soon follow. When you find a good spot, stay hidden and remain silent. The buck will show themselves.
