the first due date is based on your period. Every date after that is based on how the baby is progressing. My first date was Oct. 30th. Then they moved it back to Nov. 7th. Then after another ultrasound they moved it back to Oct. 30th and now they are telling me it could be around the 25th. Its crazy I know, but I guess he will be here when he wants to be. Congrats on your baby!

Because at best, your due date is just an educated guess. Even if you knew the exact date of conception, baby's develop at different rates and a "normal'" gestation period for a healthy pregnancy is anywhere from 37 1/2 to 42+ weeks.
The sonogram or your uterine measurements are just calculations on "average" fetal development and they Dr. or midwife is just trying to determine a guess on size and therefore, due date.
Don't worry about the due date changing. It really doesn't mean anything is wrong with your baby. He/she might just be a little small at birth or he/she might have a big growth spurt to catch up at the end of the pregnancy. I"m sure everything is fine but you could ask the Dr. next time you're in for a checkup.
Bottom line, babies come when babies come. Drs & moms have "due dates" but for the most part, babies ignore them and just come on out when they're ready!
Happy pregnancy!

Your due date is an estimate. They can not tell you that you concieved on June 22 at 10:47pm. They take your period schedule and estimate an time. They have a two week give or take. Depending on how your baby is developing they will be abel to give you a better time scale. Also, as a note if this is your first baby, they are usually late, however mine was a week early. Good luck!

My due date changed 3 times then went back to the original date. Sometimes the baby grows at different rates. If yuo go by the first day of your last menstrual period..your due dat should be right on. I had 3 ultrasounds at 3 different hospitals..so all technicians measure different so my due date kept changing..by the 4th one they did a detailed scan and measured the baby, and it went back to my original due date

the ultrasound usually tells you when you are due. between my doctors office and the hospital i had two differnt due dates, although neither of them were correct considering my son was 10 weeks early, but the good news is you know it is in the month of Feb. lol good luck i am sure you will figure it out.

Because they were there at the conception. They have to initially go by the date of your last period and what you remember. Doctors typically are in a plus or minus two week span.....that's 4 weeks total.

They can only estimate when you got pregnant. When they measure the baby they determine how far along in the pregnancy you are and determine the date. Most times it is within two weeks. You probably know the day you conceived. Use your calender

It's hard to pinpoint the exact time of conception unless you undergo invitro. Therefore they go by the size of your uterus or fetus. That is also hard to judge since everyone is different so it's better to err on the cautious side and in your case give the baby more time to bake, so to speak.

Well when you first go they ask you the first day of your last period and they go by that. But if they examined you or did sonogram or anything more technical they find out by the size of the baby and/or your uterus and cervix that you can be further or not as far along than you thought.

Because your baby is developing more slowly than average. It happens all the time. Don't worry!
