I have several Roman coins of the earliest known coins to have been shared by the Romans. These coins do not have a very great value as there are so many of them in shops and dealers and they sale for around $25.00

Honestly, most museums would not want them. They usually do not like coins on display as they are difficult to track. Any museum that does have coins would not be interested in Roman coins that are worth just a few hundred dollars, as they probably already have many better. Many collectors talk about donating their collection to a museum when they die, but I hate that for a couple of reasons. First, most museums never display what coins they do have, so they end up just sitting in a case in the storage room. Second, I like the idea of selling my coins to a new generation of collectors that can appreciate them as much as I do. Almost all historical discoveries involving coins have been made by amateur collectors, not professionals.

Lend them to a museum. I could then have them back whenever I wanted. Most museums tend to have a fair few Roman coins though so they may end up in storage.

"hundreds of dollars" wouldn't be enough to make a difference in my life so the dollar value in meaningless to me.
so with that said....
I believe that I'd pick them up
find a "lost and found" some place
turn the coins over to them
then
watch what happens.

Well, if I don't plan to leave the country I would keep them for several years and see what their value is and what my responsibilities are legally.

I would sell them. I'm a college student so believe me when I say every penny counts.
