I am a gay male, and this guy I was with lied to me and told me that he had no STD. Come to find out he has HIV. Both times we were together we used protection, but it's been past six months and I am scared to get an HIV TEST. I'm scared, I don't want to go, so I have been putting it off for sometime now. I'm just too scared, I'm only 19?

YOU ABSOLOUTELY HAVE TO GO GET TESTED. This is your life thats hanging in the balance, you have to go. I know its a scary thing but its better to know than to not know. Good luck and I wish you the best. p.s. I hope you dumped that asshole

Here's the good news. It is very hard to get HIV, even with unprotected anal sex. Some doctors guess the probablity is around 1 in 1000 chance.

It may not seem like it because of so many people contracting HIV but that's because millions of people are having sex every day and the numbers just end up working out. So after only a couple times, while wearing protection, it is highly likely that you have nothing to worry about.

You need to go get an HIV test though after about 3 months. You need to know so you don't spread it around.

For the moment there is nothing more you can do about that. You used protection which is very good, and to my understanding it is highly unlikely you'd get it anyway with that few amount of times (it can happen but the odds are very much against it). The more important thing now though is to find out so that you can then take the necessary steps.

There are treatments (no cure for HIV but treatments) that can limit the amount of damage done by HIV and maybe even stop it from hurting you altogether depending on the virility of the virus and your own immune system and how it works. You also need to know so that you don't pass it on to anyone else. Plus the sooner you find out the easier your mind will feel if you don't have it, and the quicker you can deal with the psychological aspects if you do find out that you do have it. I understand the fear (I went through it myself once) but the sooner you find out the better off you will be.

If you are afraid then that is MORE reason to go. There are so many HIV treatments avalible for people now rthat can help them lead full and happy lives even with HIV. If you get tested and you find out you have it then the sooner you can get started and that is good for you.

Further, if you do have it, then you may be able to take legal action against the guy that told you he had no STD even though he knew he had HIV.

Other then that, let us say you dont have it. Dont you want to KNOW you dont so you can stop feeling crazy and afraid? Do yourself the favor!

get tested A.S.A.P. I know you are scared but, go with a friend or something. It is critical that you get tested and get started on a regimen of the AZTs if you were exposed. If you used protection, you may not even have the virus. HIV is not a phantom to be frightened of, it is very real and you need to act now.
Truly, honesty is the first virtue of relationships. everything is based on that. I always am going to tell my guys, I don't care if they have an STD, we will just have to be more careful. That stuff isn't important; what is important is that they are HONEST WITH ME.

You should go to get a HIV TEST, the sooner you know the results, the sooner you'll know what to do.
If it is positive you can start a treatment and it will work better because a lot of stuff can be prevented.
If it is negative, you were lucky this time...but you have to reconsider the way you are living, otherwise that test can be positive the next time.
Every action has it consecuences you have to know that, it doesn't matter how bad we regret, those consecuences will come. Take care

You need to take a test. If you don't want to see your regular doctor, there should be a free clinic near you that can administer the test. Above all, this is not the end of the world. Scientists are getting closer and closer to a cure every day, and there are many meds that can help control the virus. But above all, you need to get tested. And since you did use protection, you may not even have been infected

If you used protection, you are probably ok. So get tested already. Before your blood pressure goes up from the stress! Then you can take your mind off the HIV cause you'll be too worried about the heart attack or stroke you just had!

Well, you don't have to take the test, if you don't want to. Its a choice.

You were young and careless, we all do stupid things at some time in our lives.

Its normal.

As for living a normal life, well its not something to take for granted, but its probably a little too late to panic. You were exposed, and if you want to get treatment before it starts to take hold and affect your immune systems, you might like to get the test soon.

Otherwise, if you wait until its too late for yourself, you're just gonna suffer, its all down hill from here on, at least until you get out there and find out for yourself.

Besides, so what, if you were exposed, it is entirely possible that your health was NOT Compromised.
If you're alright, then you can go on with your life, except from now on, you will be more careful and not give in to your impulses so easily.

The Only way to find out, is to go and get tested.

Its your choice honey.

Live in fear or find out and get on with living Your life.
