Should I put my linen shirts in the dryer briefly or should I hang them to dry?

It would seem that Kate M didn't read the question.

Out of the two options, I would dry it slightly in the dryer so that it's not so stiff. Then hang it to complete the drying stage.

I agree with Austinite. If you put a linen shirt in the dryer on 'low' for ten minutes, it won't shrink and it will lose a lot of wrinkles.
