10 points to you you are going to get some nasty responses but not from me. Americans know very little about geography, so they think they are the only ones in this world. Other than Hawaii and Mexico, they don't know much else.

You have a good point when you say we as Americans think the world revolves around us. American citizens are, by and large, a rather arrogant bunch. In what other country do people believe they should be able to go anywhere in the world, speak their native tongue, and have the people who live there and speak another language communicate in THEIR language? The people of the United States need to wise up and realize that we really have earned the title "Ugly Americans."

As for the issue of worshipping the flag, we are not the only people in the world who take pride in the symbol of our country that is flown in so many places. I very much disagree with the people who say that our flag is just a piece of cloth. It is a symbol of the United States and the freedom that it stands for; a freedom which, unfortunately, has been abused by so many on either side of the aisle. Disagree with our elected leaders if you like; that is your right. Speak out against them or their policies and decisions if you like; that is also your right. However, burning the flag is tantamount to pissing on the Bill of Rights and everything our Founding Fathers fought for. So if you intend to exercise your so-called freedom of speech by burning an American flag, I'm going to exercise my freedom of expression to adjust your attitude.

What is your problem with Americans? you have made a very broad statement that in fact points to your ignorance. I am an American but I have also lived in or visited most parts of the world including France, Germany, Israel, Jordan, Japan, China, and yes England as well. I just returned from a 5 week business trip in London one of many, and I will say as this site also supports my opinion that the majority of British people under 30 years of age are the most arrogant, rude, obnoxious people I have ever encountered, and I have encountered most walks of life. By a very stark contrast, most British that I have encountered over the age of 30 are some of the nicest, thoughtful, considerate, people in the world. This question is a typical attitude of the younger crowd in the UK, they are very quick to criticise, and generally lack first hand knowledge of what they are even talking about.

Because that's how we are portrayed in the media.

The real question should be why do so many people, from all over the world, apply to emigrate to the United States of America when we are such an "evil" country?

I don't worship any flag. I don't worship any country, either. I value and hold dear the constitution of the United States and the principles by which we were founded. I may or may not agree with the direction our current administration is taking us, but our present leaders do not constitute our nation or what we stand for.

praise be the flag.

What kind of unholy hell are you talking about, we dont worship it, we plege alliegence to it, like most other countries, except in the others, you get shot if you dont.

As for the contrite remarks from your 2nd answer. many americans are aware of the problems in the world, were just sick and tired of getting everyones slack no matter what we do.

That flag is why you are able to ask such questions without fear of the government kicking in your door. And as for existing, we kick azz. No other country as ever been as successful or contributed as much as we have. All the other countries come running to us when they need help.

It's really sad that you have this type of thinking. Alot of Americans are very accepting and kind. Your question is a reflection of the stereotype you are accusing Americans of being.

It is not wise to accept images of others that come from sources ignorant of the truth.
There are noble and praiseworthy people in all countries, and there are also people in all countries who are not so honorable.

This isn't stereotyping at all... you've taken the time to get to know every single citizen of the U.S.A. I'm sure.

Otherwise to say you know how a whole nation of people think would make you a fool.
