The farthest I have ever driven was about 50 miles each way. The winter conditions were often miserable - stormy, cold (25 degrees below zero in January and February), mostly poor road conditions, but I had studded snow tires, winter wipers, and an emergency kit and sandbags in the trunk, and in five years I missed only two days of work because of weather. However, I wouldn't do it again!! Now that I am retired I realize how stressful that was!

I live in the DC area and I drive about 35+ miles each way to work. So a total of 70 miles a day. That is about 1hr or more of driving, considering all the traffic, in each direction.

I used to drive 42 miles each way. It took an hour with good traffic conditions.

Now I am self employed, and I make house/barn calls. I drove 750 miles each way to service a customer a few weeks ago. 12 hours each way.

I drive 50 miles one way to get to work. The commute is fine since I'm 1.5 miles away from the interstate interchange. The community is affordable, the schools excellent, the neighbors neighborly.

And if the 1.5 miles is impassable, there's always telecommuting. :-)

I drive about 10 miles a day, but my husband drives 40 each way every day, I don't think either of us would want to travel any farther than that

108 one way. My company pays me well. If gas prices go up any higher though, I may start looking into getting a second residence.
