It's no surprise that a lot of women have self-esteem issues. So, I think many of the ones who post provocative pics on myspace are just looking for a little attention that they probably aren't getting in other areas. It's quite sad though, especially when you see like 13 year olds posting 'sexy' pics so guys will like them.
In addition to what Lanani said, you can set any myspace profile to private as well. This way only people who you authorize can see yours. The new facebook layout sucks.

Here's the thing... Myspace is set up in such a way that ANYONE could open an account under any name, as long as they have an email address... I have friends who've created accounts under fictional identities to catch cheating boyfriends and dig up dirt... it's quite possible that many of the people presenting themselves on the site as attractive women are neither women nor attractive.
I prefer the way Facebook is set up... you need a valid, working university email address to join, and your profile is private to anyone who doesn't attend your university. You can only see people's profiles within your "network" unless you designate them as friends.
