I'm currently 38 weeks pregnant and I'm trying to find safe ways to help induce my labor or move it along more like. I have been having back labor with mild contractions for a day and a half, nonstop, but the hospital still says I'm not in active labor. What can I do to make it move a little faster, or if anything at least dull the "inactive labor" that they say I'm in.

Stimulate your areolas and nipples...This releases hormones which do make labor progress. Also, i have heard different techniques such as pressure points on your hands and feet that will also relax you and make birthing easier....Other than that you could go with the old wives tail of cleaning...which of course no one wants to do that!

Nothing is full proof, and it's not really proven that anything can induce labor. I'm sure you've heard this but sex with orgasm is something to try if thats even possible right now. It causes contractions and can get the ball rolling. Or it can continue the process you're in now. Castro oil with grape juice? Sometimes women say it works, others say no. Just be prepared for going to the bathroom a lot! Read up on that book What to Expect When Expecting. That can help...

Walk, Walk and Walk some more.Go to a place like a mall where there is AC and lots of people around incase something happens. DO NOT try any of the herbal wives tales. They will make you horribly ill.

my doctor gave me a list... i tried all of them in one day and then at 1:30 the next morning, i was in labor... here goes...

have an orgasm (supposed to stimulate contractions)
take a walk for a mile or so (but PLEASE be careful)
eat spicy stuff

and i'm sorry but that's all i can remember right off hand. he told me these were unproven and pretty much "old wives' tales" but he said it couldn't hurt to try. good luck and hang in there!!!
