My situation, I believe, is a common one. I'm an undergraduate college student who is on the path to medicine, and it will take quite a while to earn a decent pay. I was wondering, if there are some non-technical skills I could pick up in about 6 months to a year, which are in moderate demand, so I can at least have a laudable salary during the summer and part-time during the school year instead of your average store jobs that don't pay that well.

Some in demand skills I've seen are fast typers, people with alot of knowledge in MS Word and MS Excel. Something in that line. I just need ideas for marketable skills I can improve on and/or master during my free time.

1. If you are looking for truly non-technical skills, than learn to become a salesperson. No matter what you sell, you earn a lot if you are really good at it.

2. As a pre-med student you should be exposed to bio and chemistry laboratories. Thus, you can think of internship or entry level lab technician position with a biotech/pharma company. That would bring you a decent pay and valuable experience.

Good luck.
