For the Gamecube I recomment Soul Calibur 2 and Super Smash Bros Melee.

It depends on what you're into though. If you're looking for a game you can just pick up and play, and have hours of fun then I suggest Super Smash Bros Melee. It's easy to pick up and play, you automaticly regonize all of Nintendo's famouse characters. With special theme arenas (Peach's Castle, Star Fox's Ship, ect.), powerups, and odd moves you'll have blast. Plus who wouldn't want to put Princess Peach against Zelda, or Samus against Bowser?

If you're wanting a game with a little more depth, and maturity, story go with Soul Calibur 2. Each character has thier own brands of attacks, weapons, and playing style, which makes for a fair balanced fight. There's also Weapon Master Mode, that allows you to unlock many weapons and some characters, while it follows players on thier journey to find the Soul Edge. Along the way facing challenges such as making your opponents invisible, or fighting on high arena while trying to keep a strong wind from blowing your character off the ledge. It also sports great graphics, and a more than great soundtrack.
