If you are looking to total strangers who know absolutely nothing about you for advice on something that will be on your body forever then you aren't ready to get a tattoo. Take some time and think about whats important to you or what you would like to get.... and don't get one until you decide or you will regret it... or you can get a monkey, a banana, satan and spongebob dancing in a conga line across your chest....

NONE!!

Think back to when you were 8 years old - and what you thought was cool then.
Would you like that permanently displayed on your body?

You are a living growing person, and how you define yourself now will change and grow. A tattoo will go out of fashion.
As a symbol it will represent something you may re-think later in life.

Dye your hair, get piercings, express yourself in your clothes.. but when it comes to permanent markings - make sure you want to feel the exact same way about it when you're eighty as well as eight or eighteen.

Well something you would like. Don't follow everyone else and get the same rediculous barb wire tattoo that every meat head gets on their arms that need more diffinition. Or you could join the service and get one that represents the service that you joined, but it wont work for the Coast Guard.

I would suggest that you start with something small. Don't get anything unless you are sure that it is what you really want. Also, pick a location that can be covered up. A visible tattoo can hurt your chances when you are looking for a good job.

Something that means something to you. All my tattoos had something to do with what happen in my life. For your first one go to your tattoo shop and look what they have. Plus before you think of getting one. Let me warn you. It all depends where you want it. It may hurt like hell on some parts of the body. Plus there cost some money. In my shop for a small cross with color may cost you up $100.00.

How about something unique, like a tribal design or barbed wire around the arm? That is very "kool" to have. In fact, you'll probably be the only one to have such a thing.

get someone to design one for you if you can, itll be more personal that way than other people having the same one, and if youre thinking of one tat means something to you dont do anything youll change ur mind about eg a patners name unless ur super super sure
an dont get anything too big 1st time see what ur like wi the pain then if its fine u can have a bigger one if you want it btw some palces r more painful than others dont forget that

something that you like or means something to you, like a cross or praying hands, the devil, your moms name...make sure it has meaning and a story behind it! best thing to do is go to the tattoo shop and look at pictures but whatever you find, change it up, you dont want to be sportin what someone else already has.One thoing thats cool is if you are proud of your heritage, get the flag, or your last name. that shows alot of pride!

Put your name or something tribal. I would be sure to not have it too big or in a very visible place because it is a permanant thing so just try to be wise with your choice. Good Luck*
