Hi all
I just bought a nexstar 3.5" external casing with maxtor 160GB harddisk. i have connected it to my computer and it managed to detect its present. it auto install the hardware without any problems but after the installation , it did not show up any drive at " my computer" even after restarting. May i know how to make it show up at "my computer" as i need to transfer some files in. Thank you very much. i connect it using USB 2.0

"It will tell you if the drive is active and you can click on it to format and partition the drive" .. how do u do it when there is no such functions under the "my computer" >> "manage" ?? Thank you

is the drive partioned and formatted. if it is not you can right click on my computer and go to manage. In here click manage drives and then look for your hard drive that you installed. It will tell you if the drive is active and you can click on it to format and partition the drive. Also you may need to verify that the motherboard knows what a 160gb drive is, some older boards max out around 80-120.

In addition to the previous answer make sure that the drive itself is set at master and not CS (cable select).
