My parents came here from Mexico and I am offended when the libs think I need "special consideration"(but in this instance libs are not concerned about offending minorities, they only want votes). I have a better education than most non-minorities. I feel discrimination shows stupidity, weather it benefits me or not. To discriminate against someone and keep them from getting into a college is wrong, weather that person is white, black or whatever.

I don't know about now, but Affirmative Action was very much needed or only white men would be working (AA helped white women break into the work force). Is it still needed? Well, I saw a report where they did an experiment where people sent in two resumes to companies. One resume had a sterotypical black name (like Lashaun or Janai) and the other had a more "white" name (like Nancy or Debra). Guess who got called back and who didn't.
What AMERICA needs is an enema. Pull the sh*t out your assessss and get a grip on race. All PEOPLE there are AMERICAN.
But alas no because BOTH libs and Conservs LOVE THE RACE CARD as does the rest of the US public.
Get over it. Its stupid and annoying. I mean, even Germany is doing better than you and the HOLOCOST was only like 60 years ago.

It's that entitlement mentality - they are stuck thinking that these groups are so disadvantaged that they are actually incapable of doing things for themselves so the government needs to do everything for them.
Conservatives really don't think that way most of the time. The old "Give a man a fish" saying really works here - many liberals would rather have the government hand a man a fish every day and create 3 federal agencies to regulate the fishing. Many conservatives would rather just set up a program by which a company specializing in fishing can teach people to fish so they can feed themselves.

Great question. I think the answer lies in the fact that conservatives believe that people should and can take care of themselves. Lib-socialists on the other hand believe they know what's best for an individual. Yet most of the lib-socialist arrogance is derived from their self-proclaimed genius status...lol

You are mistaken in what you think liberals believe.
The discrimination of blacks did not stop with the civil war by far, it continues today. I have seen it with my own eyes often.
Republicans are often selfish and greedy and liberals want to even the playing field so every one gets a chance to live the American dream. The better off we all are, the better off we all are. I don't mind paying taxes at all, except when it goes to $500 toilet seats etc. What we really need is auditing of where our taxes go and cut out the limos and vacations etc.

Want to have truly equal opportunity? Apply for college with a number, not a name, drop the race question (for pete's sake) and make the fact you were president of your high school's "Ethnicity Club" inadmissible. Then we'll see who's really fit to attend U of Your Town.
Affirmative action is nothing more than reverse discrimination with a pretty, liberal moniker.
Edit: You said it yourself, Chef. Simply BEING a minority is a competitive advantage. How about the white male with a 4.0 who doesn't get in to Cal because they needed a few more Pacific Islanders with 2.7's to meet the quota. Tell me how that ISN'T reverse descrimination??
