Steve Irwin was known to tackle dangerous animals just to show us, his fans what they are like up close. But you think he could have been more careful around a venomous animal?

That's a really good question. From what I've read, it seems Steve felt much more confident dealing with animals on land than he felt when interacting with sea creatures.

That said, I've read conflicting reports about the accident that killed him. Some reports seem to indicate that the location of the camera person, as it relates to the distance between Steve and the Stingray, may have contributed to the accident. That's in no way saying it was the camera persons' fault. But, it just kind of sounds like all these unfortunate factors just lined up and happened in an instant.

Could he have been more careful around a venomous animal? That's difficult to answer, especially when you consider the fact that, surely, Steve Irwin's definition of the word 'careful', and how one acts based on that word, was probably very, very different from the average persons' behavior based on having the thought, "...I need to be careful here...".

Just from the television shows we've seen, Steve Irwin certainly had some close calls over the years. That was just the nature of his profession. Still, he endeared himself to so many, I'm sure we all just wanted those close calls to be just that - close, but he would be alright and not be seriously hurt.

Even with the danger, I never thought our Crocodile Hunter would be taken from us.

Unlike Jeff Corwin, Steve Irwin lacked respect for the power of nature. I believe that he got caught up in the hype of being brave and a showman. Look at the way he put his child in danger of the crocodile. He got in some trouble for that. He took unnecessary chances because he was not humble enough to say that he couldn't or shouldn't. I think he was less about animal preservation than the preservation of his show. I do think that he had a love for animals and knowledge. Just not the humility to respect the power and unpredictability of nature.

Yes and NO.. It is his job to discover and research animals that no one else has ever bothered to document. So it could have been prevented if he chose a different carear path and wasnt there at the time. But as far as what actions he may or may not have been doing to cause the ray to act the way it did no. In the end the animals may seem unthreatened and tamed when we watch his show but they are wild and wild animals are always unpredictable!

nicely stingrays at the instant are not inherantly risky. what happened is that a 8" barb from a male stingray peirced steve irwins heart. it became into actual on of the tamest animals interior the sea so a techniques as i comprehend. right here in denver you are able to feed them in a splash pool on the downtown aquarium. and that they dont particularly have the teeth the do have grinders yet unlike particularly sharp ripping flesh the teeth. in simple terms the surprising attitude on the surprising time and he pulled the stinger out after it caught him interior the chest, i dont blame him for removing it it became into related to a great stingray and can have harm and led to extra harm if he had left it in for some seconds.

No it is just a very bad accident that he lost his life swimming. He always took risks, but maybe some of this was just good editing by his P.R team. He always had people around him to help out, it just very sad this happend.

He will be missed, may he rest in peace.

Unless he could see through sand, he was unaware that this animal was there. Usually, StingRays are docile creatures, and it was just bad luck that this one was frightened and that the barb pierced his heart, since most stingray "stings" are non-fatal and heal within 48 hours.

Ya think? I suppose he could have done something like not take on a project like THE WORLDS MOST DEADLY SEACREATURES. I love the Khaki but I can't have sympathy for a man who wrote carved his own tombstone.

Apparently death from a stingray is very rare and it was just a bad luck bad timing situation.

His death was inevitable; the timing and method could have been very different if he chose a different job.

you can pet those things in aquariums...they are known to be gentle and placid...it was a tragic freak accident. He would probably hate for people to wrongly judge those creatures.
