This was an unfortunate act of nature. How is it you believe your former employer is responsible for what nature does? You can't win unless you can prove that the risk of being struck by lightening was present and your employer did nothing to prevent it. But if your job took you outdoors, forget it. You can't win, you knew the risks when you took the job. Besides, the time limit to file may have already run out anyway.

It was a year and a half ago. Why are you just now thinking about a lawsuit? Your employer is not responsible for your not coming in out of the rain.

You are going to have a hard time proving that the company you work for is guilty of negligence in cases involving "Mother Nature". Which they have no way of controlling.

Forget it, unless you were told to work in the rain touching anything metal. It is an "act of God" and you can not be compensated for it .

Who you gonna sue? God?

If you are hurt at work, workmans comp covers it. It does not matter what the reason. Unfortunately, workmans comp is a poor insurance policy and probably will not cover enough, but again, who you gonna sue?
