The best time they (experts) say to work out at a gym is in the morning. You should not excersize 3 hours before bedtime or it may interrupt your sleep. But working out first thing in the morning is the best. Give you a kick start to your day, and you will feel great!!

i go right after work, theres to many people in the morning and around 5pm...I go around 3:30 4:00...there is hardley anyone there and you dont have to wait to get on the machines and you can take your time and not have to worry about someone waiting for you to do all your reps.
