No. I think political demagogues and an acceptance of the politics of personal attack (attacking the person instead of the idea) is doing a real good job on its own. The "red state blue state" thing is a bit of a crock anyway, as the vote is often extremely close, so the state should really be "purple" - a bit of both red and blue.
