I was going down this windy road last night and the road was wet. The speed limit was 25 and I was going 28. All the sudden I lose control and hit a dirt hill on the side of road on my passenger side. My hop cap fell off, and now my car shakes when I go over 40 miles an hour. I am taking it to my mechanic in two days, but I want to make sure it is saf e to drive til then.

had a similar problem on a dodge Ram passenger van. the wheel became unbalanced when whatever happened, happened. just take it to a tire shop and have them rebalance it. Its not really that unsafe, in the long run though, if you continue going at high speeds with it like that, you will damage some conponents in you steering and suspension systems. All you have to do is take it to a tire shop to get rebalanced. simple as that. not that expensive too. hope that helps.

You probably miss aligned the wheel or loosen some other part. Drive very slowly and be alert and have a clear plan about what to do if it loses control or stops responding to controls all of a sudden.

I don't think you should drive it at all except to take it to be checked. If that is far and has to use the freeway I suggest you either tow it or transport it with another means like on a trailer.

the wheel balancing could be stuffed... its a good idea to take it to a tyre shop first before a mechanic. Its not dangerous for very short and slow routes but very dangerous for highway and extended driving. Check that your wheel nuts are still in place.

A crate might desire to not get overwhelmed until you're in a heavily considerable twist of fate - wherein case I have not got any doubt that the dogs often is the final element on your recommendations (thinking you would be rushed to the well being middle ASAP.) yet in such an journey a crate might furnish somewhat extra safeguard than the dogs could get in simple terms sitting interior the front/back seat. the two way, i'm of the opinion that a dogs might desire to be tethered in some way, shape, or variety to avert it variety not basically being a distraction to different drivers yet to maintain it interior the motor vehicle might desire to an twist of fate ensue. My coach had a dogs interior the trunk of their SUV (you realize, the some distance back with a variety of metallic dividers conserving the dogs back there) as quickly as and that they have got been given into an twist of fate. dogs survived the twist of fate yet jumped clean out the back windshield (which broke) and have been given hit and killed with the help of a automobile using with the help of. in any case - my dogs is crated as quickly as we are going speedy (IE over 40 mph like on the interstate) or as quickly as we are going out of city. If we are in simple terms going around city (to my mothers and fathers domicile, to the park, to the vet, etc) then she's harnessed interior the front next to me.

My bet is you bent some suspension component. Possibly a tie rod, maybe a control arm.

If you drive it, go slow and be careful until your mechanic determines what's wrong.

Yes. You probably knocked the weight off your wheel which means your tire is out of balance. They will fix it and for now, just try to stay under 40 to avoid uncomfort.

Have your mechanic check the brakes and the tires. The impact might have done some damage to those two things.
I have had expierence with a similar problem. :)

Most likely you bent tire rim or out of balance, as long as the tire and rim look OK, you should be fine until mechanic looks at it but limit your miles if possible
