Do you notice that a lib question with many conservative responses does not have nearly as many poor ratings? What does that tell you? Liberals do not want to hear anything other than their own opinions. On the other hand, conservatives are willing to let you speak, we are illing to listen. It seems to me the so called open minded liberals are not nearly as open minded as us "stuffy" conservatives.

I do not speak for all conservatives. I have conservative values and I am sure on a micro scale conservatives differ in many ways just like liberals.

Its because many people aren't asking questions to be enightened by another's knowledge. Many askers are looking for validation of their own beliefs.

Best answers tend to be awarded to people who's answer is closest to what the asker wanted to hear rather than being granted to the best answer given.

Could it be that you NOTICE thumbs down ratings on questions that you view as conservative, but don't notice the opposite?

I have given several answers from what I would consider a liberal, but open-minded and polite perspective, in a question posted by a conservative, and been astounded at the number of thumbs downs I've received. What the? I didn't impugn anyone's motives or lineage, I was polite, I just disagreed with them...

I try to give a thumbs down to an answer that is non-responsive to the question or just plain wrong, regardless of the politics of its poster.

Have you noticed the number of questions that appear to be of the "So, 'libs' have you stopped beating your wives yet?" variety?

I didn't think so... perhaps it's a matter of whose Bush is Gore'd eh?
;-)

Edited to add: See rating below. I don't think I've said anything in this answer that should offend anyone and I've tried to answer it honestly. Could that thumbs down be there just because I'm a self-proclaimed liberal?

don't conservatives do the same thing??? We all do, it's called human nature. If we don't agree with something the other person says we naturally disagree with what the other says. Conservatives are not willing to let anyone speak... Example: Cindy Sheehan and Bush. Did he talk to her?? No, because he didn't want to hear her tell him what a bad job he's doing. If Conservatives are soooo open minded, why didn't he talk and listen to what she had to say even if he did disagree? Any person with any shred of human decency would have. What are you like 14 or something going on everything mommy and daddy says?

That's funny...I have noticed the opposite as well. When are people going to get over the fact that everyone is against everyone? That's the problem. We stop being a great country when we start fighting with each other over how to run it. And how do you know that it's just Liberals giving bad ratings? There may be Conservatives giving bad ratings to a question that they feel is ridiculous. I am a Liberal and I give bad ratings to a lot of Liberal's questions. Any question that incites hate or just spews a bunch of lies and stupid rhetoric deserves a thumbs down.

I haven't had much of a problem with answers to my questions. I let everyone give their opinion without ridicule. (Unless it is obviously idiotic.) I don't like conspiracy theories or personal attacks. Maybe the questions you have seen with poor ratings have been incredibly hateful. I see a lot of them here. I hope you realize that we are all guilty of ridicule to a certain extent. No one is immune and no one is innocent.

I must say that you are an exception to the established rule. Nearly every conservative I've talked to (notice I did not say talked with) has steadfastly refused to acknowledge the substantive difference between "Pro Choice" and "Pro Abortion", no conservative I've talked to can seem to acknowledge the smallest mistake made by Gearge W Bush (I imagine for fear that they may then have to face the reality of the scope of all his mistakes) and despite archival video footage of Colin Powell telling the UN that Sadam Hussein threatened the world with WMD's and George W's television address on the eve of the Iraqi war repeating that excuse for war, conservatives will not admit that we were lied to. This behaviour tends to lead me to the belief that Cleopatra (the Queen of "denial") was a charter member of the GOP.

Not at all.

I give poor ratings to lots of questions and answers, conservative, liberal, Democrat or Republican.

I have noticed that the extreme WACKOS on either side will always spew hate and give poor ratings to the opposing side.

I give your question a poor rating for being loaded and absolute. Your very question is a cheap shot not worthy of an intelligent poster.

Apparently you havent read enough questions on here from liberals. I've posted a lot of questions, and got a lot of answers from both sides. and i have picked answers that were from conservatives, even though I'm liberal and i dont agree. To me it doesnt so much matter what the opinion stated is, as long as i feel its a good one. They dont have to agree with what i say, and i dont expect them to. i expect to get opinions from both sides, and whoever best represents their views, gets a good rating, or best answer.

by the way, posting this question is kind of like giving a liberal that answers a question a bad rating. because you dont leave us much room to give a positive answer, and by targeting it towards liberals, it assures that most who read it and answer, will be conservative, and agree with you. everyone does it, just not everyone really cares what people think. its all part of politics. unfortunate, but true.

Most of the readers here are under 30. Most people under 30 are liberal. Most over 30 are conservative.

By the way, these binary definitions really irritatie me. I've been called every lib curse by conservatives, and every con curse by liberals. And every time, I never revealed my political inclination.

Just speaking will make someone angry. You have to develop a thicker skin and ignore the idiots. There will always be idiots, ignoramuses and intolerants.

Neither liberals or conservatives should be afraid of speaking their minds because they fear people will disagree or disapprove. Don't worry about the "thumbs down" rating; people give them for a variety of reasons. Just continue to exercise your First Amendment right.

I disagree with you. Maybe the question or comment deserved a poor rating, kind of like this one. It is not fair of you to speak on all Liberals just because they disagree with you on something or because you or one of your friends got poor ratings. Maybe if you were a little more open minded, you would be able to see things a little clearer.

Sure, but try to look at both sides of the coin. Many times do the conservatives give poor rantings to liberal questions. Stop living on a one way street, take a turn, a stop, pull off the road once in a while and you'll see that there is much more out there.
