I would say with an airbag since they target the head and neck area. It's also important that the seatbelt is across the lap vs against the belly.

I think this depends on a lot of other factors. If we have an average size woman, of average height who isn't ginormously pregnant yet, and the wreck isn't wicked bad, then I'd say she'd probably be okay. Now if the woman was more petite and shorter, it might cause a problem, she'll be closer to the steering wheel. Or if the woman is 9 months pregnant and as big as a house that would probably create a problem. And of course if it's a bad accident then everyone's chances of being injured rise.

I'm not sure if they've done any studies on pregnant women and airbags. I know that they have with seat belts, but I'd be interested to know what the airbag makers say about pregnant women. Hmm....I might have to look that up.

I don't know the research, just my opinion is without air bags but with a seatbelt on. The airbags come out with such force it would be almost like getting kicked directly in the stomach for the mom-to-be. Turn the passenger side off while she's riding and scoot the seat back as far as possible when driving. And always wear a seatbelt.

I would like to know the exact same thing. So I am starring this question, and reading back into it later! I hope you get good answers, because I've wondered the same thing! EDIT-What if say you have a newer car, like we have an 08 Chevy Cobalt, and there are airbags all over the car. Front and back, what then?

Without the airbag she has a better chance of living though there isnt a good chance for the baby i believe unless the child is close to term and there is no marjor damage to the child in the womb which would kill it before the could do a c section.

What my doc told me is that if you have an airbag, sit as far back as the seat will go. The pressure and force caused when the airbag is released could be devastating to your unborn child.

I think the impact of the airbag would be better than the impact of the steering wheel

no they can cause the mother and the child to be seriously injuredbecause of the pressure and force that the air bag comes out.
