it depends ......just lighting an incense and letting it burn in a room...........No ...... incense is used in a cermonial manner for many cultures, and when the incense coupled with a cermony of some sort then yes the incense can carry great meaning to those particpating in the cermony. As a general rule no its meaningless... Typically parnets have assocated incense with pot smoking and trying to mask the smell of a little mary-jane being consumed by there precious kids .......so in an urban setting if a parnet smells incense wafting from a kids room its like an alarm ........mom and dad probally used it to cover that leafy stink weed the were puffing in the sixties, so now they smell junior burning insence and run to the room and start asking question ... but insence alone is powerless........But I will say it does have a certian mystique to it, and often is associated with negitive things by clueless squares ............good luck

There are lots of meanings, good and bad, depending on the kind of incense, whether a ritual accompanies the burning, and what religion you follow. In Christianity, prayers are compared to incense.

That's the only reason I do it. There are other reasons to burn it - as part of ceremonies and whatnot.

If you're wondering whether burning incense is going to have an effect or make a statement you do not wish it to or know about - the answer is no.
