When I worked in a retail phamacy as a tech. I worked with a pharmacist that swears that ibuprofen gets rid of a sore throat.
Think about it, your sore throat pain is caused by the inflammation of your throat muscles. You need to bring down the swelling. I tried it one day and it works, better than the salt water gargle. Good Luck!!!

Try not to talk so it doesn't aggravate your throat and to allow it to heal. Tea with honey and lemon as well as gargling with salt each hour. Drink a lot of water to make sure you are hydrated. If you don't get plenty of fluids down you and get dehydrated, your throat will feel worse. Feel better!

Hot Toddy. Make a nice hot cup of tea. Add a touch of sugar for taste and a teaspoon of honey and some whiskey. If you don't want the tea just swallow a teaspoon of honey because it coats your throat and takes away the pain. be sure to brush your teeth
