It won't be the same... I think she found out too much about you and lost her interest - don't force that friendship now, unless you are sure you won't hurt yourself in the process..
If I were you, I'd rather get out of sight for a while before I re-set the old setting..... my pride wouldn't let me give in, especially after I have waited for 8plus years.
I think if you keep your distance from her for a while and find yourself someone, you will become more positive towards life and you can re-set the friendship... give yourself a break about this now, and change things.. start dating other girls, it will help!

Hate to throw a cliche, but time heals all wounds. If it were me I'd be cordial with her, but I would spend as little time as possible with her. It will only prolong your hurt feelings to be around. How are you going to feel when she starts dating someone? It's just a matter of time until it happens.

Hard to go back. Won't say impossible but hard. Time away would be a good thing. Spend time hanging out with other people.

You can never go back to the firend stage.
The best thing to do is move on and date other people. You can find nice girls at church.

it sounds to me as if you are back to being just friends, just enjoy her company, like you would any other friend.
