When C4 started it had a remit and succeeded in producing programming that was thought provoking stimulating and challenging in line with a remit to produce programming for minorities...these days it seems to be at the forfront of dumb TV - sensationalist documentaries, confrontational enterfact 9Wife Swap etc) and endless wall to wall BB - they don't pay for spectrum, make shed loads of money and don't answer to anyone least of all their remit...time to call time on C4 as it currently is?

I agree totally, but perhaps it can be seen as just another sign that British culture is on the decline. Our whole society seems to be "dumb down.

a lot more imports and reality tv; it's detracted from its original goal: to be the alternative and to cause controversy. times have changed but channel 4 didn't, and it became less controversial. it's adapted. i wish it would go back. still, it's pretty much the only channel i watch, and ITV is totally useless

Iv stopped watching chan 4 because of its move to showing more and more adverts. It makes watching shows tedious and hard to follow rather than entertaining..
