Men have nipples because after fertilization the basic internal sex is female; male development depends on hormone production (testosterone, DHT, and MDI), this usually is noticeable at 13 weeks, thus all sexes have nipples as we all start off developing as females, but only the females turn into breasts later on, while the men don't.
It is interesting to note that with long term alcohol consumption this lowers the amount of testosterone in the blood an thus why men can start to find they have some breast tissue forming.

In utero, the baby is initially female; after a few weeks, differentiation occurs, but by then the nipples are developed.
Adult males have the same nerve endings in their nipples as women, so they can have a lot of sensual pleasure from them.

men have nipples because both male and female fetuses grow w/them. it's not until later in the gestation period that the actual sex of the fetus is determined.
on a personal note, i believe men have nipples to aid in the arousal process. mine our very sensitive to the female touch.
when they stand erect, so does my penis. mine are pierced to heighten the sexual pleasure. even when not engaged in foreplay or sex, the rings flop around and provide me with ongoing pleasure. when have intercourse my wife pulls on the rings until it hurts jsut a little bit. wow, the feeling is sensational.
i'm glad to have nipples, they're another erogenous zone for me.

male & female fetuses are just the same until a certain point when the absence of the XX female chromosomes makes the XY fetus a male. because the Y chromosome is missing genetic material and bent.

Perhaps men used to have breasticles and the nipples hung off them.... I just play with my boyfriend's nips when we're watching TV. Annoys the t*ts off him.
