Agree to disagree - a friend is a friend is a friend... I have a number of liberal friends whose politics I vehemently disagree with. How will we ever bridge the gap if we stop talking - plus there are many areas beyond politics in which people can find common ground.

simple..do the research that backs up your feelings on the subject. When confronted with the same supposed diatribe, unleash your wealth of knowledge upon them. Make sure your sources are credible, for example, if you're a liberal dont think that quoting a news article from the New York times is gonna win you merit points, same vice versa for Conservative quoting something from fox News, or Rush's website.
You never know, in your search for the truth you might find out that opinion has changed and yourfriendship can remain intact.

There is an old saying, "Never discuss politics or religion".
This is sage advice.
The only reason it works online is cuz they don't know who you really are....
No two people will agree 100% on politics. If they want a debate, have them do it at the local high school.
If they force the issues, say this:
"Devil's Advocate Hour", you have to argue the other side for 1 hour and so do I now.

Been there done that.
Imlucky enough that my friend (although steadfast in his beliefs) will actually debate (not argue) without passion or anger. Hes a liberal and Im a staunch conservative. So, we found that we like to talk politics and have actually (at times) open the other up to a new belief about certain matters.
Try to leave emotion at the door, politics isnt worth losing a friend over.

A. If you are best friends, they should know that you don't like to discuss politics. And, if they have forgotten, simply reaffirm this message. And, if you are truly, really good friends, tell them you will stop inviting them over to your barbecues. LOL! Of course, smile when you tell them.

Be man enough to AGREE to DISAGREE!! You shouldn't lose your friendship over politics. That's why we are granted with the freedoms we have. Respect and Disagree. Then move on. It is highly unlikely you will change their mind and they won't change your mind (Just like this forum). Invite them over BUT don't let them consume too many adult beverages.
BTW - Try to have a few laughs - no matter how much you argue, you can only vote to create change. Neither of you have influence on the Dubya or state politicians.

Just don't talk politics and tell your friend you love them very much but the subject of politics is dividing your friendship. If they are really that good a friend they will understand. Everybody has the right to their opinions but everybody else doesn't have to hear them. That is what my friends and I agree on.

A. Forget about it. Talk about the weather or something else. Who knows, that might be the only friend you have left.

Ask them to stop discussing their political views because you find it offensive. If they refuse to comply, then kick 'em to the curb. It's your home.
