It seems to be the only paper still shocked ,outraged and surprised that women sell themselves for sex, that religous men stray, married men have affairs and people talk dirty on the internet...

Additional info: intersting to see how many people treat this as some kind of attack on their choice, or that it did not include other tabloids. To clarify - the question relates specifically to the NotW as they have been involved in recent high profile court cases where they were proven to have lied in order to create stories eg. Beckham kidnap case, Red Mercury, Tommy Sheridan etc...that makes their "news" mre questionable. It is not a question about looking down a nose or judging and review the question they would see that it is open and asking to try and comprehend what it is that attracts people...by the way 500k people have stopped reading it this year

The News of the World, along with it's sister paper The Scum is cheap sensationalistic journalism aimed at people who believe anything and everything they read.

The old Fleet Street adage of 'never let the truth get in the way of a good story' is never more accurately applied than when talking about the NOTW and the Scum. I wouldn't even trust the weather forecast or the date printed on the masthead.

And as for the 'world exclusives' - all that means is a trashy story that no self respecting paper would bother to put into print.

Get this rubbish off the news-stands. I wouldn't even make a papier-mache balloon out of this garbage.

As for using it for chip wrappings - I'd much rather my chips came wrapped in the Daily Sport or Mayfair magazine - much less embarrassing.

Why just News of the World?
All news papers print to sell, they all have a bias towards whatever the owners of the paper want you to know, or not know as the case may be!
There is no such thing as impartial reporting any more!(come to think of it maybe there never was)?
What is the point of the News of the World?? The point is to make money, what is the point of any other newspaper, is it to carry out the job of independent reporting whether it makes money or not?? I don't think so!!
The answer is simple, if the paper is not 'high brow' enough for you, don't buy it, and if everyone else agrees with you it will go out of business wont it??
They are all merely entertainment value now, all news is available well before news papers come out, all ads are forced upon us from many other sources, all tit bits of info are available from else where, so the real question should be why aren't all news papers done away with?? Do we really need them?? Except of course for the fish and chips!! And I think the EUC are going to ban that habit in the very near future, I read that in the News of the World!!! So I know that is true!

The News of the World to me is a cheap and light read. If you want to know in depth sport reports buy it! If you want to know a bit of gossip buy it! If you want a cheap tele guide - buy it! Just don't expect too much of it. To me its similar to The Daily Mirror, but with better sport. If you don't like it or don't like The Sun - don't buy it. Its that simple. (I notice you don't go on about the Mirror even though that's an equally shite paper). If you don't like somebody - you keep out of their way don't you. Its easy. Also, don't slag its readers of either - basically because there are alot of them. Personally I can't believe people buy The Star or The Daily Sport - why do I not see you slagging them off. Are you a snob? Or do you dislike middle to right wing newspapers? Whatever the reason for your dislike it seems to me you are looking down your nose at alot of people - similar to Trevor the snowboarding architect.

I think it is value for money, easy to read, entertaining and informative
I read it from cover to cover sunday morning over breakfast and morning coffee
Much better than Sunday M***** and other rubbish
At least it is topical, with a fruity flavour of dishy stories
and the letters page, well - thats a hoot!!!

It's designed to inform the ignorant masses in a simplistic way because that's the only way they'll have any grasp of what is going on in the world.

For the rest of us, it's an entertaining pastiche of real-life news

I have never read it, but I know of its reputation.
If this the best selling Sunday paper, as someone said, then its very sad.
